Lecture 2: Oxidation-Reduction Equilibria

Overview

Several geochemically important elements (S, O, C, N, Fe, Mn) can exist in more than one oxidation state over the range of conditions in the Earth's crust. Oxidation-reduction equilibria are the primary means by which biological processes interact with geochemistry.
