Lecture 3: Ions and Ionic Bonding

Overview

We will discuss the main types of chemical bonding and focus on the ionic bonds that form between atoms of dissimilar electronegativity. A simple picture of ionic bonding enables us to make useful predictions of the nature of minerals and the behavior of ions in aqueous solutions.
