Lecture 4: Covalent and Metallic Bonding
We will discuss where the ionic approximation breaks down and the more realistic
molecular orbital theory of bonding. However, we will also introduce the Valence Shell Electron Pair repulsion (VSPER) model used to predict the structures of covalent compounds. Finally, we will discuss metallic bonding and semiconduction.
You should be able to:

structures of covalently bonded molecules.
